Bill has over 30 years of experience as an architect and planner, with the past 25 years focused especially within the planning, design, and construction of healthcare facilities. Bill grew up working as a mechanic in his father's gas station and was a chopper crew chief in the Vietnam war. He is a master of systems, and takes great pleasure in innovating elegant, effective solutions to complex design challenges.
M. Thérèse LeBlanc, NSAA
President, Design Director
Thérèse has led the design of WNAL's healthcare projects for the past 20 years and has completed hundreds of planning and design projects. She combines her keen sensitivity of design and color with her knowledge and experience in high technology and healthcare architecture. Thérèse became president of WNAL in 2005 and now leads the whole WNAL design team on every project.
Benjamin Nycum, B. EDS, M.Arch
Vice President, Director of Business Development
Ever present at the WNAL offices through his childhood, Benjie grew up with architectural design all around him. Benjie's focus in architecture includes Mental Health, Senior Living, Education, and Aviation Facilities. Since 2001, he has led WNAL's major projects at the Halifax International Airport, and has experience in a wide range of project types in Nova Scotia, Germany, Austria, and California. He has been with William Nycum & Associates Limited for 8 years and brings a high level of dedication and a broad range of creative skills to the firm.
Judith A. Hein, NSAA
Senior Architect, Project Manager
Ms. Hein has more than 35 years experience as an architect. Most of her experience has been in healthcare architecture, specializing in medical high-technology areas of facility design including diagnostic imaging, laboratories, etc.
John M. Thomson, NSAA, MRAIC
Senior Architect, Project Manager
Mr. Thomson has over 30 years of career experience as design architect in projects ranging in building types and sizes, including numerous schools, technical institutes, and health care facilities. Mr. Thomson is known for finding practical, innovative, budget conscious solutions to difficult problems and his overall expertise in the field of architectural design.
Heather Bown, B. EDS, M. Arch,
Graduate Architect, Project Manager
Ms. Bown has gained significant experience in her three years at WNAL and has quickly advanced to manage projects and design teams. Heather has developed skills in project planning, contract documentation and construction administration. Ms. Bown has contributed to the design development of several WNAL projects, including Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, projects at Halifax International Airport, Qikiqtani General Hospital and Renovations to South Shore Regional Hospital, as well as renovations to the Colchester Regional and Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospitals. She recently attended the Healthcare Design.04 symposium in Houston last November.
Lourdes SanPedro, Arq.
Senior Architectural Designer, Project Manager
Lourdes graduated with a degree in Architecture from the University of Havana in 1973, where she was later a professor of design for several years. She worked as an architect for the Construction Ministry of Cuba for 26 years, amassing significant experience in the design and construction/renovation of healthcare facilities, working her way up to the status of Director within the Ministry (1987-1995). She was responsible for developing standards for hospital design and has attended and participated in many international professional development opportunities related to healthcare design, including World Health Organization activities. Ms. San Pedro joined our team early in 2005 and has quickly acclimated to our process and standards.
Dennis Barry
Director of Contract Document Production Co-ordinator and Quality Control
Mr. Barry has over 35 years of experience in the design development and detailing of buildings, the preparation of construction documents and the administration of construction contracts. He has also been involved in numerous facility assessments.
